The WebQuest was one of the most time-consuming, yet also most rewarding, assignments that I completed in this class. Not to say that the others were not as fun or as beneficial; rather, I mean that this assignment took planning not only for the type of lesson being taught, but also for a project that could accompany that lesson. Furthermore, the project had to incorporate using the Internet effectively and efficiently in order to complete the project - and no simple "research this person and write it up" assignments, either! This was a full-blown, week-long (perhaps even longer) group project that required research, critical thinking, creative thinking and writing, and an effort to understand more deeply what it was like for escapees to travel on the famed Underground Railroad. I loved the challenge of creating this WebQuest, because it required a lot of critical thinking and planning from me, as it would from my students; not only was that useful practice for my future career, but it was fun, plain and simple. Though it was very time-consuming, I can definitely see myself using this tool in the future, especially as an in-depth project that takes learning beyond a basic grasp of the subject, and requires the students to demonstrate a true understanding and application of the subject matter. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Journey on the Underground Railroad
